PTS Paper Symposium 2012
September 11-14 at Kleine Kongresshalle in Munich

A new lecture format gives the three days of lectures and expert discussions a special atmosphere of dramatic suspense: Provocation – Transformation – Innovation.

Provocation

The first day will focus on solutions for long- and short-term technological challenges in our sector including two panel discussions:

  • Answers to long-term challenges and approaches to a successful future will be discussed in the round-table discussion of the CEPI 2050 Roadmap.
  • Pulp shortage is a short-term challenge facing the paper industry. A panel discussion involving purchasers will evaluate possible solutions.

A series of lectures on raw material sourcing will also reveal specific approaches to the problem, ranging from recycling loops to pulp certification.

Look forward to well-known speakers from the following companies and organisations: CEPI, WWF, Stora Enso, FTP, bifa, Pöyry, Kompetenzzentrum Holz, BOKU, Itene, Joanneum, Innventia, Glatfelter, Felix Schoeller, Fibria et al.

Transformation

Promising technologies and their application in paper mills are the focus of Day 2. These lectures are designed to highlight particulary successful implementations of new ideas in paper mills. These case studies will be completed by approaches that are currently in the trial phase.

Learn from the multifaceted experience in production technology from the following companies: Univ. W. Hungary, PTS, TU Dresden, CELABOR, Mid Sweden University, PTS, Servophil, FH Karlsruhe, Kemira, Leipa, BK Giulini, Reno De Medici, Sachtleben Wasserchemie, Hamburger Rieger, BTG, Metso Automation, J. Schulte, F. Schoeller, Weipatech, Wetend technologies, fipptech, Voith Paper, Leikon, TU Darmstadt, Luleå Univ. of Tech., MoRe research, VTT, TU Dresden et al.

Innovation

Paper and paper products must take account of the changes in consumer behaviour and the new needs arising from it. Important values that must be understood and realised are not only print quality, but also form, design and feel. The papers presented on Day 3 will indicate where innovations are headed and which direction they must take.

  • A panel discussion on the “Opportunities for Paper” between Drupa and Fachpack will be part of this conference day.

Expectations on paper as a product will be presented and discussed by: Sandrapauldesign, Gmund, FOGRA, KBA, Sappi, Reckitt Benkiser, PTS, Innowep, VTT, TU Dresden et al.

On 14 September, the Symposium will be rounded off by excursions that are designed to present the current state of the art in a clear and competent way.

PTS is pleased to welcome many guests from the entire paper value chain that are affected in one way or another by the themes being addressed and hopes that all attendees will become actively involved in the podium discussions.
